'HIGHER AND HIGHERSlowly,
you slowly, slowly turn me
up so slowly burn me
I’m catching fire, catch me
I’m falling
softly
you approach me than avoid me
you set me ablaze so quickly
and quietly destroy me
inside
I’m fading
why do you play so cruelly ?
you want to consume me
I’m left with only
a lonely, lovely longing
I’m fire sweetly burning
Higher and higher
burning higher and higher
Slowly,
you slowly, slowly burn me
in your flames I’m drowning
and from my ashes I rise back up
again you tease me
don’t play with me, release me I’m begging you to help me
I’m pleading for your mercy
You see me glowing, but inside I’m dying
you see me firmly standing, but I’m softly melting
I’m left with only a lonely lovely longing
I’m fire sweetly burning
Higher and higher burning higher and higher

DIFFERENT KIND OF LOVE
You turn me out, you look away
deny me day by day
a feeling I can’t fight
You never dare to cross that line
afraid that you might find
life’s not black and white
It used to be so simple
It used to be so true
the world was so much brighter
when I was with you
You and me, a different kind love
call it what you want but it's still love
We wouldn't be apart, if you listened to your heart,
You and me a different kind of love
There's sadness in your eyes
your freedom’s caught in lies
beneath your bourgeois smile
Yeah, you finally got your way
your world is neat and safe
you’ve been bored for a while
It used to be so simple
It used to be so true
the world seemed so much brighter
when I was with you
You and me, a different kind of love
call it what you want but it’s still love
we wouldn't be apart, if you listened to your heart
you and me a different kind of love

DO IT
It’s just life
It’s like a dream, it’s so ephemeral
there isn’t any time to be skeptical
you can be logical and still be radical
people who don’t dream are unreliable
You say: “No, I don’t know”
You say: “I don’t think so”
You say: “I shouldn’t go”
Will you stop saying : “no” ?
Just do it !
Do it, do it, do it
You can !
do, do it
baby you can do it
come on !
It’s my life and I am fine with unpredictable
sometimes it can be hard but still incredible
you can be practical, still make it magical
people who don’t dream are unreliable
You say: “No, I don’t know”
You say: “I don’t think so”
You say: “I shouldn’t go”
Will you stop saying : “no” ?
Just do it
Do it, do it, do it
You can !
do, do it
baby you can do it
come on !

The fire of imagination
I am life and I’m creation
I’m a woman
The mystery and the solution
I’m the dawn of revolution
I’m a woman
Feel me I’m inside you
Don’t you hear my voice at night?
Feel me all around you
I’m the sun it’s golden light
I am a woman
A real woman
I’m a good woman
I’m a woman
Man and a woman
I am a true woman
The wisdom of generations
Power and determination
I’m a woman
Instinct and intuition
I’m the artist the musician
I’m a woman
Feel me I’m inside you
Don’t you hear my voice at night?
Feel me all around you
I’m the sun it’s golden light
I’m the marvel and its wonder
I’m the echo after thunder
I’m a woman
I am freedom, I am laughter
My own hero, my own master
I’m a woman
Yes I am
I ‘m a woman
Very wild woman
A wild, wild woman

MY LOVELY ENEMY
Who are you ?
I don’t know you
I don’t understand you
I fear you, hate you
I hate you cause I fear you
Grasp you, know you, get you, hold you
I can’t define you
or ever mold you
You use me, amuse me
always confuse me
I am just a liar
afraid of desire
Hate is only fear’s reaction
another word for attraction
You
Who are you ?
You are mine
I’ve been waiting for you so long
Beautiful, bad and divine
I’ve known you all along
You were the vision in my dreams an ancient melody
The scent of my memories
You, who are you ?
are you me ?
my lovely enemy
No,
don’t look at me like that
If I drawn in your eyes
I won’t come back
Kiss me
Keep me aliveAngel
Don’t let me die
You
Who are you ?
You are mine
I’ve been waiting for you so long
Beautiful bad and divine
I’ve known you all along
Your eyes the mirror of my heart, the cradle of the stars
a lapse of eternity
You who are you ?
are you me ?
My lovely enemy
You challenge my views and my perception
turn upside down my idea of perfection
Hate is only fear’s reaction
another word for attraction
Your eyes the cradle of the stars the mirror of my heart
A lapse of eternity

SOMEONE TRUE
If you wanna find someone true
Here I am, I’m the one for you
I’ll be your one, I’ll be your all
No, I never will let you fall
Si lo que tu quieres es algo real
algo verdadero yo te voy a dar
baby por completo me voy a entregar
y te prometo que a tu lado sempre voy a star
I come to you, I try to touch
you slip away
I still want you so much
You come around, you play your game
I fall again
You still treat me the same
If you wanna find someone true
Here I am, I’m the one for you
I’ll be your one, I’ll be your all
No, I never will let you fall
Choose whom to love
choose how to live
know what you are getting is that which you give
I know what I want
I know I want you
and deep inside I know you want me too
You’re the one I want
You the one I want
You the one you the one
You the one I want
Me provocas
So entregate esta noche y
Vamonos a fuego

LOOK INTO MY EYES
I see right through you
every time I catch your eyes
they reveal the truth that you are blind to
the one you’re trying to deny
Like captured thieves
no place to hide
now they can’t tell any more lies
it’s what I see there in your eyes
they are my key, my silent spies
You, so smooth
you, so sly
can’t look into my eyes ?
You so sleek, cold as ice
can’t you look in my eyes ?
You look good dressed in lies
but can’t look in my eyes?
You so sleek, cold as ice
can’t you look in my eyes ?
I see the true you, so don’t act like I’m a friend
you can fake but I know you want to
come to me and don’t pretend
Like captured thieves with no place to hide
now they can’t tell any more lies
it’s what I see there in your eyes
they are my key, my silent spies
You, so smooth
you, so sly
can’t look into my eyes ?
You so sleek, cold as ice
can’t you look in my eyes ?
You look good, dressed in lies
but can’t look in my eyes?
And you act so smooth…and you act so sly
but when I look at you, look into my eyes

COME INTO MY LIFE
Riding backseats on night highways
dark spaces, white lights through the window
I’m moving too fast through my life
while the moon remains constant in the sky
The night is holding its breath
inside, in silence, I’m dead
but if I make it until tomorrow…
I know that my fear will be gone
and so I’m waiting for the morning to come
If I say I’ll forget you, I’m lying
looking for you I’m still waiting
whatever I do with my life…
the moon remains constant in the sky
just today I knew what was right
but in the silent day I can hear my voice inside
it says: come in to my life !
come, come
come into my life
come, come, stay with me
nobody loves me,
nobody loves me enough
enough to save me
I’m breathing the silence tonight
Won’t I ever arrive where I’m going ?
I’m saying your name inside
while the moon is following my ride
Only now I can let this night go by
the black earth breaks the day
I don’t want my heart to dry
It says: come into my life
come, come, come into my life
come, come, stay with me
nobody loves me
no body loves me enough
enough to save me

My love has got no money
He’s got his strong beliefs
My love has got no power
He’s got his strong beliefs
My love has got no fame
He’s got his strong beliefs
Want more and more
People just want more and more
Freedom and love
that’s what he’s looking for
Freed from desire
Mind and senses purified
Freed from desire
Mind and senses purified
Nananana…nananana…
My love has got no money
He’s got his strong beliefs
My love has got no power
He’s got his strong beliefs
My love has got no fame
He’s got his strong beliefs
Want more and more

I pass through noise and silence
I walk alone
It’s a beautiful day
It’s raining and it’s cold
Reflected onto the wet pavement, can you see what I see ?
The trembling image of my eyes, that are still free !
And they say silver, I choose gold
I’m not afraid to be alone
Someone will judge his gentle soul
Let a boy cry and he will know…
And they say silver I choose gold
ohohoh
I’ve never done as I’ve been told
ohohoh
You’re always waiting for somebody
you don’t like yourself
They made you change, do you remember ?
when you were someone else…
Soldiers and dolls won’t give away
my childhood dream:
I was a pirate, I conquered and I sailed free
And they say silver, I choose gold
I’m not afraid to be alone
Someone will judge her crazy soul
Let a girl fight and she will know…

I’m the world the world is me
Difference is a shadow
a dangerous mirage
nations and religion
just a camouflage
Many people many faces
only a delusion
just a trick of vision
an optical illusion
Open your eyes
What do you see ?
The truth is so simple
it will set us free
I’m the world, the world is me
Hold on to what’s true:
You are me and I am you
No such thing as a single mind
one bond ties all of human kind
I am a river, the world is the sea
fear is a dam built in between
there’s no 1 and 2 and 3
there ‘s no it and he and she
there’s no they and there’s no we
there’s no you and there’s no me
Open your eyes
what do you see ?
the truth is so simple
it will set us free
I’m the world, the world is me
We are one
as one we are free
Let it be simple
let it be true:
You are me and I am you
One heart beating through the world
feel its rhythm in your soul
Let it be simple
let it be true:
I’m the world the world is me

It’s your name I hear
inside my head
sweet
like the many tears I shed
It’s your name I call
your name read
my prayer, my creed
It’s your name I hate
because I love you
still
and I can’t live this way
It’s your name I keep
The only thing
You can’t take from me
I wanna hold you
so
someday
I’m gonna dive in your eyes
be castaway
I wanna please you
so
please stay
and I will lead you
Faraway, away, away, away,away, away
It’s your name I feel
the pact I seal
your name
It’s your name I call
under the sky
salty
like the tears I cried
It’s your name I hate
because I love you
Still
and I can’t live this way
It’s your name I keep
The only thing
You can’t take from me
I wanna hold you
so
someday
I’m gonna dive in your eyes
be castaway
I wanna please you
so
please stay
and I will lead you

© 2002 Role Breaker PublishingIn the years since she last caused a splash on the international scene, Gala has been far from inactive.
Since splitting with her former label at the height of her popularity, Gala has worked on sculpting her own vision of her sound. She has explored music writ large, and grown as an artist by working with various producers and musicians in London and New York.
“I risked it all to do what I believed was right, ” says the songstress.
The risk paid off. The pop sensation recently signed with EMI, a move that promises to drive her envelope-pushing creativity even higher. She has been refocusing her energies on the craft and form of song-writing, not a forte usually linked to pop singers, who are often better known for their voices, dance moves and looks. But it is here that Gala distances herself from the pack.
Since settling in the cultural cauldron that is New York’s Greenwich Village 14 years ago, Gala has, in many ways, found herself anew. From the start, the European native has always sought out diverse sounds and dances for sources of inspiration. And it is in this sense that New York’s tradition of street music and clubs offering everything from jazz to hip-hop to folk music has been the perfect catalyst for her new work and approach to music.
“New York is a very important to me,” she says, explaining her evolution over the years. “It is a symbol for who I am. I am a citizen of the world. As Virginia Woolf said, I am a woman, and this is what defines me more than country.”
That’s not to say that Gala is making radical changes in her image and sound. The evolution is a subtle one. As always, her music and performances are rooted in pop tradition, and continue to focus on her strong flowing vocals and melodies. That said, in working with several producers from New York, the beats accompanying her songs are now more Hip Hop than pop, reflecting an important facet of her growth.
Whilst working on her own projects through the last years, she has also branched out, writing the lyrics to one of French composer Charles Gounod’s operas, a fact she notes proudly as a testament to her diversity as an artist.
And while the voyage from the heady success of her early years to her new work hasn’t always been easy, Gala looks forward with relish to the release of her new record and the future.
“I am so proud of these songs,” she says. “To me they represent giving up my security to chase my dream.”
